Yoga has been based on teacher/student relationships for as long as it has been around. Teachers offer us intellectual knowledge, physical guidance, transmissions of various kinds, honest and constructive feedback, and a trustworthy and compassionate partner. They are vital to our spiritual growth. Cultivating your ability to listen and learn from your teacher is one of the most important lessons you will learn on your yogic path. Also being able to surrender, respect, and acknowledge your teacher is absolutely necessary to receive the divine grace that is yoga.
Yoga is all about developing relationships. Relationships with our bodies, minds, spirit, God, the environment, and other beings.
